Build a Federal Style Box

This Class is divided into three class meetings or sessions. Remember, you will have access to the streaming class videos for each session.

Federal Period Boxes were used for holding anything of value. Many of the finer houses of the period had one on each table to display a sense of style and prosperity. Some were used for a most valuable commodity, tea.

As a Society of American Period Furniture Maker's Cartouche Award Winner, Ronnie knows how to teach you to craft this wonderful project. It is a real skill builder but not out of reach for a woodworker wanting to stretch and grow. This is a project that can be built from scrap or fine figured hardwoods and veneers.

Ronnie will provide you with an overview of the project in Session 1 and show you how to build the box. Several methods of joinery will be demonstrated. Session 2 will be about designing and applying a set of beautifully sculpted feet. Session 3 is all about how to embellish your box with inlay and patarae.

You will find files including full size plans and written instructions (posted before the first class starts) along with links and passwords to access your streaming class videos in your "My Account," accessible from the website menu.

You will be very proud of your accomplishments when you show off this box almost anywhere in your house!
